UWEALUganda Women Entrepreneurs

Who We Are

Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL) is the national membership body for women entrepreneurs in Uganda — established in 1987 and operating across all 135 districts with over 3.2 million members and beneficiaries.

Our Story

For over 35 years, UWEAL has spearheaded the transformation of the business landscape in Uganda, giving women entrepreneurs a powerful and unified voice. We work with members at every stage — from start-up to established enterprise — supporting them to start, sustain and grow successful, women-owned businesses.

Through capacity building, networking and advocacy, UWEAL has connected Ugandan women entrepreneurs to local, regional and international markets via partnerships with the East African Business Council (EABC), COMESA, EAWIBP and beyond.

Three Core Pillars

  • Advocacy — One voice for business women, shaping gender-responsive policy.
  • Capacity Building — Training, mentoring, business counselling and incubation.
  • Networking — Local, regional and international market and peer connections.
